400 Ptolemaic bronze coins found in Faiyum, Egypt

North of Lake of Qarun, Faiyum city, 50 miles southwest Cairo, Egypt.
2000-year-old coins were found in the Lake of Qarun, the coins date back to King Ptolemy III, whose Greek family ruled Egypt for 300 years, till Cleopatra committed suicide.
On side of the coins is inscribed with the Greek-Egyptian gold Amun-Zeus, and on the other side is the words "Ptolemy" and "King" written in Greek language. The coins weight 32 grams each.
More artifacts were found in the area, including three necklaces that the Egyptian government said "it was the first time Egyptian archeologists find Necklaces made of ostrich eggshell in Fayoum" They were found in a 42-million-year-old skeleton of a whale! Which actually is not less interesting than the discovered coins...

These items will be displayed at the New Egyptian Museum which is under construction now, close to the great Pyramids in Giza.
