There are thousands and thousands of books out there about ancient Egypt, but my favorite is The Chronicles of the Pharaohs.
This books tells you the complete story of ancient Egypt from the day it started till the end of Cleopatra's era.
The best thing about it is that you don't have to be a genius or an expert to read it, plus it keeps you very interested to go from one chapter to another with pictures and notes, you never grow tired of it.

Though this is one of the nicest Christmas gift ideas, still not many people order it for Christmas. I believe the reason must be that they think it must cost an arm and a leg to craft your name on a silver or gold cartouche.
